Fight News From Around The ๐ŸŒ

Coming Home To A Full House

4 years ago, when Tyson Fury last fought on home soil, if you'd had to take a guess as to who he'd be fighting at a sold out Wembley Stadium, 99% of boxing fans would have given you one name:

Anthony Joshua.

Instead, he takes on long time WBC #1 contender and interim champion Dillian Whyte in a heavyweight showdown that has the potential to be one of the greatest fights witnessed on British shores.

The trilogy with Wilder has formally cemented Tyson Fury as the best heavyweight boxer in the world in the eyes of the boxing faithful, and the subsequent losses of his rival Joshua have made him look even better in comparison.

The slick movement, ring IQ and power all combine to form a seemingly unbeatable heavyweight.

One that moves like a middleweight, but possesses the power to knock out the most dangerous heavyweight puncher of the last 30 years, not once, but twice.

Not only that, but to get up 4 times off the canvas from some of Wilder's best shots suggests Fury is truly a special, special fighter.

But there are vulnerabilities, and Whyte will look to exploit them.

Fury has a tendency to coast when things are going his way, and that is what lead him into danger against Wilder.

Whilst Whyte doesn't possess the same calibre of KO power as the American, he has a world class left hook and invests well in working the body, which could be key to slowing the fleet footed Fury down.

This is a chance that the "Bodysnatcher" has been waiting for for almost the same amount of time as when we last saw Fury in the UK.

He's been the WBC number 1 contender for 1,634 days, yet was consistently overlooked for a shot at then champion Deontay Wilder, in favour of lesser fighters such as Dominic Breazeale, or fighters Wilder had already beaten like Luis Ortiz.

He's made it clear through his pre-fight behaviour that he does not see this as the "Tyson Fury Show", and will be looking to translate that to the ring on Saturday night.

On paper, Fury should beat him.

He's technically a better fighter and should in theory, be able to take Whyte's best shots.

But theory could go out the window if Whyte manages to get inside and turn it into a real slugfest, as he did successfully with Joseph Parker back in 2018.

Saturday night could mark the extraordinary homecoming of one of the greatest heavyweights of the last 10 years.

Or, it could be the start of another great heavyweight rivalry at the top of the division.

We can't wait to find out.

Andrade Drops Back Down

In one of the most intriguing matchups we have seen in the female divisions for a long time, former Strawweight champ Jessica Andrade takes on the up and comer Amanda Lemos in the Main Event of UFC Fight Night 205.

Andrade, who began her UFC career up at bantamweight, is one of the most accomplished and entertaining female fighters on the roster. Her power has carried down through the divisions, and she has a finish over current champion Rose Namajunas to show for it.

Fellow Brazilian Lemos plays the role of the up and comer here, coming into her first UFC Main Event slot and looking to build on her #10 ranking.

Her bread and butter is her accurate striking game and crisp technique on the feet, and she may have the perfect foil for that in the aggressive, but sometimes careless Andrade.

However, this represents a big jump in class for her.

Andrade has been in the ring with the biggest names in women's MMA for years, having shared the octagon with the aforementioned Thug Rose, as well as Valentina Shevchenko, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili.

She's been here before, and will look to rely on her 5 round experience against Lemos, taking her to deep waters on the mat where she can submit or even look for a ground and pound finish.

The former champion may have just enough to be able to beat the talented but unproven Lemos and muster one last shot at her former crown.

But if she's not careful, she may become the biggest scalp in Lemos' UFC career thus far.
